Before you install anything

Run the two-minute hardware check first. Four questions about your graphics chip, Wi-Fi card, BitLocker and printer, the four things that actually decide whether install day goes smoothly. It tells you the known fix for anything that flags. Start the check.

Then try Linux from a USB stick before changing anything. Your Windows installation stays untouched, and ten minutes of testing Wi-Fi, sound, printing and the webcam tells you more than any review.
